Homemade Mickey Mouse Wall Art

When my oldest nephew was born, I was just beginning to dive into crafting. I had created him a sign for his room with his name, but I also created this.

In my family, we love Disney! We love the movies, the shows, and have been to Disney World a few times. We are hooked! For that reason, I had no other choice than to create this Mickey Mouse Sign.

To create this, I took two pieces of chipboard I had purchased on Amazon. I had printed an outline of Mickey Mouse, large enough to use the bottom half for one board, and the top half for the other. I used an X-Acto knife to cut the shape, but the knife would not go through the board. So, I ended up having to use scissors to cut the Mickey pieces out, using the imprint from the X-Acto knife.

The next thing I did was to tape the two pieces of Mickey Mouse together on the back side. I then painted the front sides black.

The next part was difficult. I printed images of Mickey Mouse and friends and glued them to the Mickey Mouse. I had to do it in such a way that each image was visible, but blended together. This took time and planning. When each image was attached to the Mickey Mouse, and I had trimmed the edges, I applied a layer of Mod Podge.

After purchasing a large canvas as the Goodwill, I painted it white. This took several layers to cover the image, but it worked nicely. This was going to be the background for my Mickey Mouse collage.

The final step was to glue the Mickey Mouse chipboard collage to the white canvas. I outlined it in black, being careful not to get black paint on the images. I think it turned out wonderful for my new little bundle of joy!
